This trail is easily followed to Tuck Lake, but navigating the rocky terrain to Robin Lake is where having a guide comes in handy. Our guides have hiked this trail several times and know it well.
Hikers must be able to carry 35 lbs. pack and should be able to keep a walking pace of 3 mph.
It can be difficult to know what kind of food to bring into the backcountry if you’ve never done it before. That’s where our experience comes in handy. We’ll prepare and provide just the right amount of food so you don’t carry too much while still meeting the high calories need of backpacking. Each woman will receive her food pack at the trailhead and carry it in her pack.
You’ll learn various skills while on the trail and at camp. Some of the skills our Guides teach are basic navigation, wilderness first aid basics, proper water filtration, building an emergency shelter, how to signal for help, various methods for starting a fire, and more. Build your skillset and your confidence as you learn these essential skills for backpacking.
A complete packing list will be emailed to you after you register; however, here are some basics that you can count on bringing:
- Good trail shoes
- 3 pair of socks
- warm layers including a knit hat and gloves
- 10 essentials
- bug repellent
- rain gear or poncho
Diana Layton/Co-founder & Programs Director
Diana's backpacking experience is extensive. The Pacific Northwest has been her playground since she was little. She grew up in a family of seven kids with parents who took them all backpacking each summer. She has completed sections of the PCT, the entire Wonderland trail around Mt. Rainier, and the coveted Enchantments...multiple times. I have been to some of the most beautiful places on my adventures with Diana, she knows all the best spots. Each time I go out with Diana I realize I packed too much, again, but she never hesitates to teach me how to do better next time. She is a natural teacher and very knowledgeable about how to keep it light, simple, safe, and enjoyable. She's helped me tackle trails I didn't think I could do which has given me invaluable confidence.
I know that when you are led by Diana you are good hands. Don't miss out on your chance to learn from someone who is truly passionate about experiencing nature in safe and meaningful ways. Join this trip, it will be challenging at times, I've done it, but it will be worth every step, every breath, and every drop of sweat. The views will blow your mind!
